Hello, Stormbounders! A new version of Stormbound is coming in January, bringing balance changes and some exclusive offers! Happy new year and best wishes from the Stormbound team for 2024!
Balance changes
This release, just like any other, will bring some balance changes.
- Orgone Leechers now decrease the mana reduction by 2, instead of: “[…] by 1 for each other friendly Ancient and Frostling”
- Soulcrushers’ strength is now 6/7/8/9/11 (up from 5/6/7/8/10)
- Finite Loopers now spawn a 1/2/3/3/4 strength Construct (up from 1/1/2/2/3)
- Angelic Tikas’ strength is now 1/2/3/4/5 (down from 2/3/4/5/6)
- Retired Commanders now spawn 1/2/3/4/5 strength Knights (down from 2/3/4/5/6)
- Snowdrifts’ strength is now 5/6/7/9/11 (down from 6/7/9/11/13)
As usual, some compensation in the form of coins and fusion stones will be provided to owners of Angelic Tikas, Retired Commanders, and Snowdrifts, proportional to the level and rarity of the card. Find below the compensation values for each rarity and level.
Common card: 
10 coins at level 2, 20 coins and 
1 fusion stone at level 3, 50 coins and 2 fusion stones at level 4, 120 coins and 5 fusion stones at level 5.
Rare card: 15 coins and 2 fusion stones at level 2, 30 coins and 3 fusion stones at level 3, 90 coins and 7 fusion stones at level 4, 190 coins and 10 fusion stones at level 5.
Epic card: 15 coins and 2 fusion stones at level 2, 40 coins and 5 fusion stones at level 3, 120 coins and 10 fusion stones at level 4, 250 coins and 20 fusion stones at level 5.
New card
Over the past few months, we slowed down card releases to put more focus on developing features and preparing designs that will help the game grow more than ever.
Simultaneously, we wanted to ensure that each faction and unit type share an equal number of cards to make playing all factions and unit types the most fair. With the introduction of Lunatic Lunas, we've successfully reached this goal!

Carnival event
To mark the ongoing carnival festivities, we're initiating a beautiful new tradition in Stormbound this year.
Enjoy double coins throughout the weekend, along with a fantastic offer available in the shop. Coins will be doubled starting from this Friday, Jan 26th, 2024, 8:00 AM CET, until Jan 29th, 2024, 8:00 AM CET.
Shop and Economy changes
This month kicks off the first of several planned changes to Stormbound's economy and progression pacing.
Going forward, all books (except for Humble and Noble) in the shop will permanently contain one extra card. Additionally, special book types (Unit type, Card type, and Chaos Books) will now appear in the shop on a daily rotation of two. Stay tuned for the next changes!
Game's speed
From now on, the Stormbound gameplay will be accelerated by approximately 17%. Curious about this value? Following thorough internal testing, we've found 17% to be the optimal speed, elevating the enjoyment of the game while maintaining the cherished essence of Stormbound.
Note that this change will be live after the client update, which will be available to all users from this Thursday, Jan 25th, 2024, after the maintenance.
It’s possible that this acceleration rate will change in the future, but not by a lot.
Account creation changes
From now on, you can't sign up to make a new Stormbound account with Kongregate anymore.
However, you can still sign in to the game with Kongregate, provided that your account has already been merged or created through this method. For a smoother experience, we suggest linking your account to Google or Apple, depending on your device. Simply navigate to the game settings, select "Add sign-in method" and choose either Sign in with Google Account or Sign in with Apple ID.
